Barcelona, one of the oldest cities in Spain, must not be missed while staying in Casarulin!
This city really has everything to offer and of course, as a little soccer fan knows, is the home city of FC Barcelona. A visit to Camp Nou, the famous soccer stadium of Barcelona, is a must. From Casarulin, Barcelona is 80 km drive by car. By train (from Blanes) you can reach Barcelona within 75 minutes. Advantage of the train trip: you can enjoy beautiful views along the coast, because the train runs right along the coast for most of the time. Highly recommended and relaxed at the same time! The Sagrada Família (see photo) is one of the best known churches in the world. In addition to Gaudí’s works of art, Barcelona is the jewel of northern Spain.
TIP: if you don’t feel like driving around in Barcelona with the (rental) car, combine train and car in one trip. Drive from Casa Rulin to Mataro for example, park the car at RENFE station and from there take the train to Barcelona-Placa de Catalunya station. Get off in the middle of the center and discover the rest of the city on foot or by metro. Relaxed and cheap as well!
Girona, perhaps as beautiful as Barcelona.
Whether you are a fan of Game of Thrones or not, the city of Girona is worth a visit during your travels in Spain.
The Ciudad de los Cuatro Ríos (City of Four Rivers) has a historic center consisting mainly of medieval buildings with traces of Roman, Arab and Jewish times. Força Vella Fortified Square contains the most important works that bear witness to its historical development. Its privileged location between the Pyrenees and the Costa Brava offers the possibility of countless excursions both in the places and in the nature. Wherever you go, you always have the opportunity to savor regional cuisine consisting of dishes prepared with ingredients from the sea and the mountains.
